The Redrum is a fairly basic drum machine - with the advantage over ur roland that differant samples can be created and loaded using specific file types.
Drum Samples Redrum can read and play back sample files of the following formats:
Wave (.wav)
AIFF (.aif)
SoundFonts (.sf2)
REX file slices (.rex2, .rex, .rcy)
Any bit depth
Any sample rate
Stereo or Mono
You are provided with space for 10 patches (voices) which can be assigned from the plethora of drum samples provided in the reason sound bank or to any other PCM Wav sound.
There are 16 velocity sensitive pads (see the toggle on the far left side) into which you can produce ur beat - up to 64 equal events are possible, resolution of all events editable via central knob.
There are 8 patterns and 4 banks for you to store informaton on however i reccomend one pattern to one redrum - unlike reality, we are not limited to a budget of how many 909s we can afford (in my case, none).
IN the bottom right corner there is the possibilty of loading an entire drum set (al la alesis sr models) but even then, you can change one patch if you are nto comfortable with it. Differant channels have differant 'effects' or aumtomatons assigned to them that you can tweak - if you are certain what the beat you want is, you make want to take note of which ones do which.
i hope that helps for now,
i may add some more later ---- i am sick of typing at moment
sorry for spelling mistakes, english ist mein erstin sprache. anyway
maybe someone will add to it now - this site is a good idea
